Unlearning Perfectionism in the Voice Studio
Rethinking Tradition, Power and Perfection in Vocal Pedagogy
Who is this workshop for?
Singers and Voice Teachers who are teaching or who plan to teach and want to bring intention and practical tools to combat the pervasive and stifling presence of perfectionism in voice pedagogy.
What does the workshop include?
Examine how the master–apprentice model and traditional voice pedagogy have shaped power, safety, and perfectionism in the studio.
Explore how perfectionism functions as a survival strategy, and how it influences both the inner life and teaching practice of the voice teacher.
Engage in mindful and somatic practices that support regulation, curiosity, and embodied presence in lessons and performance.
Develop practical studio tools that nurture agency, consent, play, and authenticity for both teacher and student.
Reimagine the voice studio as a space for freedom, connection, and creative wholeness, rather than control or correction.
Participants will receive a practice PDF following the workshop that will support them in applying the tools offered.
How much does it cost?
$45 USD

Thank you so much for such an incredible workshop! I was so happy to be able to attend live, and honestly, I can't stop thinking about so much of what you covered. I had many "aha" moments where the workshop seemed to tie together different threads in my life that I've been exploring in the last year. I'm so excited for where this work may take me, and I'm so grateful to both of you for creating a truly compassionate, courageous space to explore this topic.
